I had a good reminder to follow my own advice this week.

And to do what I teach!

When you are creating content to build an audience for your business it’s often hard to know what to talk about.

You’ve probably had this feeling when to sit down to create content and are sitting looking at a blank screen and blinking cursor.

Or worse, yourself in a video recording tool!

I personally have a target of 3 short videos every day. It’s quite a schedule to keep. But I stick to it.

Off the back of that I’ve been asked “how the hell do you keep having ideas about what to talk about??”. It’s a great question honestly.

When I first started doing content marketing, especially video, I would often sit there thinking “mm what should I shoot a video about today”. Thinking about the video would often take longer than the video! Not efficient if you are a business owner.

I found this happening recently so thought I’d go check my own advice!

Doing so reminded me about what a goldmine Reddit is.

To test this out and prove to myself (and my audience) that this works I shot two videos:

• One video telling people about the Reddit technique.

• And one video using the Reddit technique.

The purpose was to show how effective the Reddit technique is.

It worked!

Using the Reddit technique: 20,000+ views. And still going.

Ten times…Yeah…it was a good reminder to practice what I preach! Idiot.

That video has also (in a day) netted me £3:

Not retirement no. But that’ll probably lead to £20+ in the next week. AND remember we can drop a lot of videos like this. It stacks up as a nice bonus.

So, what the hell is the Reddit technique? The first video above gives a broad outline. The lowly 2000 view one!

Basically we leverage Reddit to find content in our niche that is already popular. And we make our own content off the back of this proven popularity.

Instead of us working out what to make content about we allow our audience and customers to tell us. We follow the attention. Super simple but not enough people do it.

I’m going to cover it in detail in the upcoming week’s Playbook.
